INGREDIENTS:

  1. Cleaned shrimp or prawns - 1/2 kilogram
  2. Chopped Ridge gourd (Peerkangai) - 1/2 cup
  3. Chopped onion - 1
  4. Slit Green chili - 1
  5. Ginger garlic paste - 3 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Chili powder - 3 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Coriander leaf - little
  8. Salt - as needed.
  9. -- To grind to paste--
    1. Fennel seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    2. Poppy seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    3. Coconut - 2 wedge or pieces
  10. -- To Temper --
    1. Clove - 1
    2. Fennel seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    3. Bay leaf - 1
    4. Curry leaf - from 1 sprig
    5. Oil - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Grind the ingredients under section "-- To grind to paste--" by adding little water as possible.
  2. In pan heat oil. Add clove, fennel seed, curry leaves Once the curry leaves stop splattering add onion, green chili and sauté until the onion turns translucent (golden brown)
  3. Now add ginger garlic paste, tomato and sauté until raw smell is gone and tomato become mushy and oil starts to separate.
  4. Now add ridge gourd, shrimp or prawns and mix well.
  5. Once mixed well add chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and mix well.
  6. Now add 2 tumbler water and bring to boil.
  7. Once well boiled add coconut paste and cook for few minutes. Now add coriander leaves, remove from heat (stove) and serve.

NOTES:
