INGREDIENTS:
- Cleaned shrimp or prawns - 1/2 kilogram
- Chopped Ridge gourd (Peerkangai) - 1/2 cup
- Chopped onion - 1
- Slit Green chili - 1
- Ginger garlic paste - 3 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Chili powder - 3 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Coriander leaf - little
- Salt - as needed.
- -- To grind to paste--
- Fennel seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Poppy seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Coconut - 2 wedge or pieces
- -- To Temper --
- Clove - 1
- Fennel seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
- Bay leaf - 1
- Curry leaf - from 1 sprig
- Oil - as needed
PREPARATION:
- Grind the ingredients under section "-- To grind to paste--" by adding little water as possible.
- In pan heat oil. Add clove, fennel seed, curry leaves Once the curry leaves stop splattering add onion, green chili and sauté until the onion turns translucent (golden brown)
- Now add ginger garlic paste, tomato and sauté until raw smell is gone and tomato become mushy and oil starts to separate.
- Now add ridge gourd, shrimp or prawns and mix well.
- Once mixed well add chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and mix well.
- Now add 2 tumbler water and bring to boil.
- Once well boiled add coconut paste and cook for few minutes. Now add coriander leaves, remove from heat (stove) and serve.
