INGREDIENTS:

  1. Shrimp or Prawn - 1 cup
  2. Curry leaf powder - 1/2 cup
  3. Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  4. -- For making curry leaf powder --
    1. Curry leaf - a handful
    2. Dry chili - 3
    3. Bengal gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    4. Black gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    5. Pigeon pea - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    6. Asafoetida powder - a pinch
    7. Cumin seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Oil - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Make the curry leaf powder by dry roasting all the ingredients under the section "-- For making curry leaf powder --" and powder them.
  2. In a bowl add shrimp or prawn, curry leaf powder, lemon juice, salt. Mix them well and marinate for 1/2 to an hour.
  3. Heat oil in (dosai) skillet and fry the shrimp by placing them one by one and fry them 2 minutes both side or until they are cooked.

NOTES:

  1. Don't cook the shrimp or prawn too long for good result. Golden rule is not more than 2 minutes works most of the time.
