INGREDIENTS:

  1. Shrimp (cleaned and deveined) - 1/2 kilogram
  2. Whole small Shallot (sambar onion) - 100 grams
  3. Sliced Garlic - 10 cloves
  4. Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Chili powder - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  6. -- For Tempering --
    1. Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
    2. Curry leaf - 1 sprig
    3. Oil - as needed
  7. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. In a bowl add the shrimp, chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and mix them well. Marinate this for 30 or 60 minutes
  2. In a pan heat oil, add mustard seeds once the mustard seeds stop splattering add curry leaf and sauté for couple of seconds.
  3. Now add the garlic and sauté for 1/2 minute or until  sautéed.
  4. Now add the shallot and sauté for 5 minutes or until sautéed.
  5. Now add the marinated shrimp and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes or until they are cooked then remove from heat and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Instead of whole shallots you can slice the shallot and use them as well.
