INGREDIENTS:

  1. Crab - 7
  2. Fennel seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
  3. Black pepper - 1 teaspoon (tsp)
  4. Shredded Coconut - 1/4 cup
  5. Shallot - 14
  6. Salt - to taste
  7. Tomatoes - 2
  8. Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp)
  9. Chili powder - 1 and 1/2 teaspoon (tsp)
  10. Tamarind - 1 lemon size
  11. Garlic - 4 cloves
  12. Mustard seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp)
  13. Drumstick - 1
  14. Hot green chili - 2
  15. Curry leaves (optional) - 5

PREPARATION:

  1. Clean the crab well. Cut 4 shallot, tomatoes, drumstick into small pieces.
  2. Split the hot green chili. In a blender or mixture grind shredded coconut, black pepper, fennel seed, garlic, left shallots grind to a paste.
  3. Make a cup of thick tamarind juice. Now add the mixture to tamarind juice and mix well.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seed, cut shallots, curry leaves and cook until the shallots turn golden brown.
  5. Now add the cut tomatoes and cook until oil separates.
  6. Now add the crab and fry for 5 min.
  7. Now add the tamarind mixture. add the cut drumstick.
  8. Cook this mixture until the crab is cooked and kuzhambu becomes thick consistency and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Instead of drumstick you can use brinjal (egg plant) , plantain.
