INGREDIENTS:

  1. Crab - 6 pieces
  2. Finely Chopped Onion - 2
  3. Finely Chopped Tomato - 3
  4. Black Pepper - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  5. Cumin seed - 1/2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  6. Fennel seed - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  7. Garlic - 6 big cloves
  8. Ginger - 1 piece
  9. Dry Chili - 4
  10. Tamarind juice - 4 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  11. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  12. Curry leaves - 1 sprig.
  13. Chopped Coriander leaves - for garnishing
  14. Oil - as needed
  15. Salt - to taste

PREPARATION:

  1. Cut onion, tomato into small pieces and keep aside.
  2. Dry grind to powder black pepper, cumin, fennel and red chili each separately.
  3. Grind garlic, ginger to a thick fine paste by adding litter water as possible.
  4. Heat oil in a pan or kadai or wok and add onion, curry leaves and sauté until the onion turns translucent.
  5. Now add tomato, turmeric powder and sauté until the tomatoes become mushy.
  6. Now add the black pepper powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, ginger garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell is gone.
  7. Now add salt, tamarind juice made out from 1/2 glass of water.
  8. Now add the crab pieces and bring to boil. Cook this until the crab are cooked and all the water is evaporated the garnish with coriander leaves and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Before cooking whole crab, make sure to slightly crack/break open the shells so that the masala can penetrate the tissues.
