INGREDIENTS:

  1. Horse tail (kuthira vali) rice - 1 cup
  2. Chopped onion - 1
  3. Tomato puree - from 2 (small)
  4. Ginger + Garlic + Green chili paste - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Chili powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Garam masala powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Coconut milk - 1 cup
  8. Clove, Cardamom, Cinnamon stick - each 2 piece
  9. Oil - as needed
  10. Salt - as needed7

PREPARATION:

  1. In a pan heat oil. Add clove, cardamom, cinnamon stick and sauté.
  2. Now add onion and sauté Once the onion becomes translucent (golden brown).
  3. Now add ginger + garlic + green chili paste and sauté until the raw smell is gone.
  4. Now add the tomato puree and sauté.
  5. Now add chili powder, garam masala powder, salt and sauté for couple of minutes.
  6. Now add the coconut milk, 1 cup water and bring to boil.
  7. Now add horse tail (kuthira vali) rice.
  8. Now cover the pressure cooker with a lid and cook simmering for 10 to 15 minutes until the Horse tail (kuthira vali) rice is cooked.

NOTES:

  1. If you like roast cashew nuts in ghee and add to the pulao.
