Wash green gram, Varagu arisi (kodo millet) separately in water. Drain all the water and keep it aside.
Heat oil in pressure cooker. add cumin seeds, black pepper, curry leaves, green chili, ginger pieces and sauté. NOTE: usually until the cumin seeds and curry leaves stop spattering and ginger raw smell is gone.
Now add Varagu arisi (kodo millet) and Moong dal (Split green gram), water as needed, turmeric powder, salt and mix well.
Pressure cook this for 3 to 4 whistle. Remove from heat and wait for pressure to release. Once the pressure is released serve.
