INGREDIENTS:

  1. Mung beans (pasi paruppu) - 100 grams
  2. Rice - 400 grams
  3. Milk - 250 Millie liter
  4. Shredded coconut - 1 cup
  5. Jaggery - 1 kilo gram
  6. Cashews - 10
  7. Raisins - 10
  8. Ghee - 200 grams
  9. Cardamom powder - 1/4 tablespoon (tbsp)

PREPARATION:

  1. Add 1/4 cup of water and cardamom powder to jaggery.
  2. Heat and melt the jaggery until it becomes a thick syrup and keep it aside.
  3. In a pan fry the mung beans ( pasi paruppu) for 4-5 min ( note don't burn it)
  4. Cook the rice to paste by adding mung beans (pasi paruppu), milk and salt. (milk + water should be 8 cups)
  5. In a pan melt ghee cashews, raisins and shredded coconut until coconut turns golden brown.
  6. Now add melted jaggery, fry items in ghee (step5) and the cooked rice mix well and serve.
