  1. Fish (Mackerel) - 4
  2. Tomato - 5
  3. Onion - 5
  4. Garlic - 10 cloves
  5. Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Dry chili - 5
  7. Chili powder - 1 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  8. Coconut milk - 1/4 cup
  9. Lemon - 1/2
  10. Salt - 1 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  11. Oil - 1/4 cup


  1. Clean and cut the fish into two pieces. (vary based on the size)
  2. Add turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon  (tsp.) of salt, chili powder to the fish and  marinate it for 10 minutes.
  3. Grind dry chili, 2 tomato, garlic, 2 onion into a fine thick paste by adding little water as needed.
  4. Thinly Slice the rest of the onion. Cut the rest of the tomatoes into big pieces.
  5. In a pan heat oil and fry the marinated fish and keep it aside. In the same pan add more oil if needed and sauté the onion until it turns golden brown.
  6. Now add the ground paste and cook for 3 minutes.
  7. Now add the tomato and cook until oil separates.
  8. Now add the coconut milk, fried fish; cover, simmer and cook for 1 minute. After a minute add lemon juice from the 1/2 lemon.
  9. Then cover, simmer and cook for 3 minutes and serve without breaking the fish.
