INGREDIENTS:

  1. Dried Anchovy - 100 grams
  2. sliced chopped onion - 2
  3. Chopped tomato - 2
  4. Chopped green chili - 5
  5. Chili powder - 1/2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  6. Fish masala powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Lemon - half
  8. Coconut milk - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.) Or 1/4 cup home made coconut milk (refer notes for steps.)
  9. Oil - 3 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  10. Salt - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)

  14. Cumin seed - 200 grams
  15. Black pepper - 100 grams
  16. Full turmeric - 100 grams

PREPARATION:

  1. Clean the Dried Anchovy by washing in water and drain all the liquid.
  2. In a bowl add washed dried Anchovy fish masala powder, chili powder, salt, 2 tablespoon (tbsp.) of water. Mix well until Dried Anchovy is well coated.
  3. In a pan heat 3 tablespoon (tbsp.) of oil and Crispy Fry the masala mixed dried anchovy and remove from pan. In the same pan heat 3 tablespoon (tbsp.) of oil.
  4. Now add chopped onion, green chili and sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
  5. Now add chopped tomato and sauté until oil start to separate. (takes about 5 minutes)
  6. Now add the crispy fried Dried Anchovy. Mix and cook for a minute. Add coconut milk and remove from heat. Now squeeze 1/2 lemon juice and Set this aside 10 minutes (do not disturb else oil will be release and won't tasty. )

  10. Grind all the ingredients under section "For making fish masala" to fine masala powder and use it as need. (note the recipe is for more multiple use._

NOTES:

  1. In a mixer add 1/4 freshly shredded coconut, 1/4 cup water and grind. then squeeze the coconut milk.
  2. This is popular dish among Tamil Islamic community. Goes well with ghee rice.
