  1. Chopped bullet green chili pepper or green Jalapeno - 10
  2. Chopped garlic - 10
  3. Chopped shallot (sambar onion) - 8
  4. Tamarind - a gooseberry size
  5. Oil - 3 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  6. Salt - as needed


  1. In a pan heat oil add garlic, shallot and sauté for a minute.
  2. Now add tamarind, salt and sauté for 30 seconds or so.
  3. Now add the green chili pepper and sauté for 3 minutes or until its sautéed. Cool this down and grind into fine paste and serve.


  1. Goes well with dosai and idli.
