INGREDIENTS:

  1. Split Bengal gram - 1 cup
  2. Finely chopped onion - 2
  3. Finely chopped green chili - 6
  4. Finely chopped ginger - 1/2 inch
  5. Fennel seed powder - 1 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Chopped curry leaf - 10 count
  7. Oil - to deep fry or 1 1/2 cup
  8. Salt - 1/2 tablespoon (tbsp.)

PREPARATION:

  1. Soak spilt Bengal gram in water for minimum an hour. Drain the liquid.
  2. Now grind the soaked Bengal gram, salt, fennel powder to a coarse dough by not added any water.
  3. Now add onion, ginger, curry leaves, green chili to the vadai dough and mix well.
  4. Heat oil in a pan for frying. Now make balls size of small lemon with the dough. flatten the balls and deep fry them to golden brown and serve. NOTE: cook them in batches for good result and also make sure they are cooked.

NOTES:

  1. Dip in water when you make balls and flattening so the dough does not stick to your hand. You can also use banana leaf to flatten it.
