INGREDIENTS:

  1. Avarakkai (broad bean) - 250 grams
  2. Chinna vengayam (onion) or shallots - 3
  3. Coconut milk - 1/4 cup
  4. Mustard seeds - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp)
  5. Split black gram - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp)
  6. Oil - 4 tablespoon (tbsp)
  7. Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp)
  8. Curry leaves (optional) - 5
  9. Salt - To taste

PREPARATION:

  1. Cut Avarakkai (broad bean) into 1 inch sizes or fine pieces. Cut shallots into fine pieces.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add mustard and split black gram. when the mustard seed start to splatter. Add curry leaves and cook for a minute.
  3. Now add the cut shallots and cook until they turn golden brown.
  4. Now add the Avarakkai (broad bean) cook for 1 min. Add the coconut milk, turmeric powder and salt.
  5. Stir and cook until the Avarakkai (broad bean) cooked and oil separates then serve.
