INGREDIENTS:

  1. Chicken pieces with bones - 1/4 kilogram
  2. Shallot (sambar onion) - 1 cup
  3. Chopped Tomato - 2
  4. Chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Garlic clove - 10
  7. Coriander leaf - little
  8. Curry leaf - little
  9. Sesame oil - 5 teaspoon (tsp.)
  10. Salt - as needed.

  12. -- Dry roast and grind to powder --

  14. Black pepper - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  15. Cumin seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  16. Fennel seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  17. Coriander seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  18. Dry chili - 2

PREPARATION:

  1. In pan dry roast all the ingredients under section "-- Dry roast and grind to powder --" and grind to powder.
  2. Crush the garlic clove.
  3. In a pressure cooker heat oil. add chicken pieces and sauté little. Now add curry leaves, Shallot (sambar onion), tomato, chili powder, turmeric powder, crushed garlic and sauté well.
  4. Now add salt, water as needed and pressure cook for 2 whistle. Once the steam is released add the ground powder and cook the rasam for 2 more minutes.
  5. Garnish with coriander leaves, remove from heat and serve.
