INGREDIENTS:

  1. Ragi flour - 2 cup
  2. Raw rice - 1 cup
  3. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Soak rice in water for couple of hours.
  2. In cooking pot add rice, salt and water as needed. i.e. to cook rice and ragi flour.
  3. Cook the rice. Once the rice is cooked add ragi flour gently by sprinkling it. NOTE: don't stir.
  4. Now cover with lid and cook for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes remove the lid you will see some flour will be floating on the top. Now gently stir it them. NOTE: don't stir until the bottom.
  5. Continue cook for another 2 minutes and remove from heat.
  6. Now with wooden spatula mix well. Make big balls out of the kali and serve hot.

NOTES:

  1. Trick is to have the right amount of water when you cook the rice. Or the kali will become water. Trick is to remove excess water after the rice is cooked. this will allow you to add the cooked water if the kali required after you add the flour.
  2. Goes well with peanut chutney, dry fish curry, fish curry.
