INGREDIENTS:

  1. Potato - 4
  2. Finely chopped green chili - 2
  3. Finely sliced onion - 2
  4. Chopped carrot - 2
  5. Chopped Ginger - 1 inch
  6. Roasted gram - 4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Fennel seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Cinnamon stick - 1 inch
  9. Cloves - 2
  10. Curry leaves - 10
  11. Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  12. Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  13. Split Bengal gram - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  14. Split black gram - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  15. Oil - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  16. Salt - as needed.

PREPARATION:

  1. Boil the potato and mash them (big pieces).
  2. Grind roasted gram, cinnamon stick, cloves, fennel seeds into a fine paste by adding little water as possible.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seed, split bengal gram, split black gram once the mustard stop splattering add onion, green chili, curry leaves and sauté until turns truculent (golden brown).
  4. Now add carrot, ginger and sauté for 1 minute.
  5. Now add the mashed potato, salt to taste, turmeric powder, ground roasted gram paste, water as needed and bring to boil. Continue boiling until the raw smell is gone and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Goes well with Puri.
  2. You can add tomato if needed.
