Cook and mash the split green gram by add turmeric powder, garlic, green chili, tablespoon (tsp.) of cumin seeds and water as needed.
In a pan heat oil, add mustard seeds, split bengal gram, rest the cumin seed once the mustard seed stop splattering add chopped shallot (sambar onion) and sauté until it turns translucent (or golden brown).
Now add the chopped tomato, crushed coriander seed and cook until oil separates.
Now add spinach and cook until its cooked.
Now add mashed green gram, salt to taste, water as needed. Bring this to boil until right thickness is reached and serve.
