INGREDIENTS:

  1. Chopped Green bean - 15
  2. Chopped Onion - 1
  3. Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  4. Garlic clove - 2 count
  5. Tamarind - a small pebble size
  6. Jaggery - a small pebble size (optional)
  7. Fresh shredded coconut - 1 1/2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  8. Oil - as needed
  9. Salt - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  10. -----------------------------------------------
  11. --- Roasted in oil and grounded to powder ---
  12. -----------------------------------------------
  13. Dry chili - 2
  14. Coriander seed - 1/2 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  15. Fennel seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  16. Poppy seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  17. Cinnamon stick - small piece

PREPARATION:

  1. In a pan heat oil. add ingredients under the section "-- Roasted in oil and grounded to powder --" and roast them without burning it. Cool this to room temperature and grind to a powder along with tamarind.
  2. In the same pan add 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.). add onion, garlic and sauté until the onion turns translucent (golden brown).
  3. Now add the chopped green beans and sauté for 5 minutes.
  4. Now add the roasted ground powder, turmeric powder and sauté for 1 minutes.
  5. Now add water until the green bean is submerged (don't add too much water), add salt and cook for 5 minutes. Once the green beans are cooked and all the water is gone.
  6. Now add fresh shredded coconut, mix well and cook for 2 minutes and serve.
