  1. Drumstick - 3
  2. Dry chili - 1
  3. Shredded coconut - 1/4 cup
  4. Split green gram - 50 grams
  5. Split black gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Asafoetida powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Cumin seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Dalda - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. Salt - as needed


  1. Chop drumstick into 1 inch size. Break the dry chili into pieces.
  2. Grind the coconut by adding little water as possible.
  3. Cook the split green gram, drumstick by adding a cup of water in a idly cooker or just boiling them. Separate the cooked drumstick and keep it aside.
  4. In a pan cook the split green gram by adding asafoetida powder and bring to boil.
  5. Now add the cooked drumstick, ground coconut and continue boiling for 4 to 5 minutes. Remove from stove and keep it aside.
  6. In a separate pan heat dalda, add split black gram, broken dry chili, cumin seeds. Once the cumin seeds stop splattering add this to the drumstick koottu and serve.
