  1. Egg - 4
  2. Shallot (sambar onion) - 10
  3. Tomato - 2
  4. -- Grind to paste --
    1. Ginger garlic paste - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    2. Cinnamon stick - 1/2 inch
    3. Clove - 1
    4. Shredded coconut - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
    5. Fennel seed - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Salt - as needed


  1. Grind the ingredients under the section "-- Grind to paste --" to a fine thick paste by adding little water as possible.
  2. Break egg into a bowl. Add salt and beat well. Now steam and cook this then cut into small pieces.
  3. In pan heat oil. add shallot and sauté until they turn into translucent (golden brown).
  4. Now add the tomato and sauté until they become mushy.
  5. Now add the ground paste and sauté until the raw smell is gone.
  6. Now add 1/2 cup of water and cook until kuzhambu becomes thick.
  7. Now add the egg pieces and boil once. Remove from heat (stove) and serve.


  1. You can cook this until oil separates as well and serve.
