INGREDIENTS:

  1. Chopped Ginger - 6 inch
  2. Black gram - 1/2 cup (small)
  3. Tamarind - betel nut (Paakku) size Or small pebble size
  4. Dry chili - 2
  5. Asafoetida powder - a pinch
  6. Dry chili - 2
  7. Oil - 2 tablespoon (tbsp.)

PREPARATION:

  1. Roast black gram in oil until it turns light brown.
  2. Now add dry chili, asafoetida powder and roast them.
  3. Now add chopped ginger and sauté until its cooked.
  4. Cool down the roasted ingredients.
  5. Grind roasted ingredients, tamarind, salt to thuvaiyal consistency by adding water as needed and serve.

NOTES:

  1. Goes well with rice, curd rice.
