INGREDIENTS:

  1. Cooked rice (non sticking) - 1 cup
  2. Sliced onion - 2
  3. Sliced tomato - 3
  4. Sliced green chili - 1
  5. Curry leaf - little
  6. Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Split black gram - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  8. Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  9. -- To dry roast and grind to fine powder --
    1. Coriander seed - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    2. Split bengal gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    3. Split bengal gram - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
    4. Dry chili - 2
    5. Fresh shredded coconut - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  10. Oil - as needed
  11. Salt - as needed

PREPARATION:

  1. Dry roast the ingredients under the section "-- To dry roast and grind to fine powder --" in pan and grind this to a fine powder.
  2. In a pan heat oil. Add mustard seeds, bengal gram. Once the mustard seeds stop splattering add onion, curry leaves, green chili and sauté until the onion turns translucent (golden brown).
  3. Now add the tomato and sauté until they becomes mushy.
  4. Now add turmeric powder, salt, ground powder and mix well. 
  5. Cook this for couple of minutes remove from heat.
  6. In a bowl add rice and the tomato sauce. Mix well and serve.
