Gujarat rava dhokla recipe

Rava dhokla is famous Gujarathi dish. Its quick and easy to make. Its like rava idli with a twist.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Rava - 1 cup
  2. Yogurt or Curd - 1/4 cup
  3. Chili powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  4. Black pepper powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Oil - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Eno (fruit salt) or Baking soda - 1 or 1/2 teaspoons (tsp.)
  7. Salt - as needed
  8. ----------------------
  9. -- For Tempering ----
  10. -----------------------
  11. Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  12. Cumin seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  13. Chopped Green chili - 2

PREPARATION:

  1. Mix Rava, Yogurt or Curd, salt, Eno (fruit salt) or Baking soda to make idli batter and keep it aside for 30 minutes. NOTE: add water as needed if you need to
  2. To make idli’s. Spoon batter onto an idli(idly) stand.
  3. Garnish each idli with black pepper and chili powder.
  4. Heat water in idli(idly) cooker, and place stand in.
  5. Steam for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Insert a clean matchstick (back end) or a skewer. The skewer should come out clean if the idli’s are done.
  7. Once the Idli are cooked.
  8. Heat oil in a pan. add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and chopped chili. Once the mustard seeds stop splattering spread over the dhokla and serve.
