INGREDIENTS:

  1. Ulunthu (black gram) - 1 cup
  2. Split bengal gram - a handful
  3. Jaggery - 100 grams
  4. Cardamom - 1 (powdered)
  5. Sesame oil - 50 grams

PREPARATION:

  1. Soak Ulunthu (black gram), split bengal gram until the submerge in water for at least an hour. Filter the water. Grind this to a coarse by adding little water to a thick batter.
  2. In a pan add the oil. Now add the batter and slowly cook by stirring in simmering heat. NOTE: if needed add more oil.
  3. In the mean time melt the jaggery by adding little water and make pagu (syrup). Filter this and add to the cooking kanchi. continue stir and cooking until the kanchi cooked.

NOTES:

  1. If you like you can roast cashew nuts and add to this kachi.
