  1. Ladies finger (Okra) - 300 grams (cut into pieces)
  2. Chopped onion - 1
  3. Tomato - 2 (chopped or pureed)
  4. Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  5. Chili powder - 2 teaspoon (tsp.)
  6. Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon (tsp.)
  7. Tamarind juice - 1/4 cup.
  8. Coriander leaf - little
  9. Salt - as needed
  10. -----------------------------------------
  11. --- For Tempering ---
  12. -------------------------------------------
  13. Oil - 4 tablespoon (tbsp.)
  14. Mustard seed - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  15. Split black gram - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  16. Split Bengal gram - 1/4 teaspoon (tsp.)
  17. Curry leaf - 1 sprig


  1. Heat oil in a pan. add mustard seed, black gram, Bengal gram. once mustard seed stop splattering add the curry leaves. Once curry leaves stop splattering add onion, Ladies finger (Okra) pieces and sauté until the Ladies finger (Okra) is half cooked. NOTE: if get dry sprinkle water to avoid burning.
  2. Now add tomato pieces or puree and cook until oil starts to separate.
  3. Now add turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, water as needed and mix well. Once the raw smell of spice powder is gone add tamarind water. Bring to boil once and remove from heat and serve.
